Meet Dr. Piemontesi

Dr. Piemontesi is a board-certified specialist practicing full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was born in South Africa and grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and then went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Piemontesi then concluded his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and during this time he obtained a Doctor of Medicine and completed a 1-year general surgery internship.

His professional interests within the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery include third molar surgery, dental implants, digital and virtual surgical planning, orthognathic surgery and maxillofacial pathology, trauma and reconstruction.

Dr. Piemontesi has received his Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, British Columbia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the British Columbia Dental Association.

Outside of the profession, he enjoys running, biking, playing tennis, cheering on the Vancouver Canucks or Nashville Predators and spending time with his wife Erin and golden retriever Harper Lee. Dr. Piemontesi is excited to be part of the team at Island Oral and Implant Surgery and return to his family in Nanaimo and Victoria.
